Terms of Use
Revision of
Draft: the final wording is being prepared with our lawyers.
1. Who these terms are for
These terms govern the use of the Marechal payment platform by businesses that accept payments from their customers or send payouts to them. By creating an account you confirm that you act on behalf of a legal entity and are authorised to accept these terms for it.
The platform is not intended for consumers. Payers interact with their own payment providers, not with us.
2. Account and review
An account created through self-registration is opened for review. Until the review is complete the account gives access to the dashboard only: no payments are processed and no payment methods are connected.
During the review we ask for information about the company, the person who signs the contract, the services you need and your settlement details. Providing false or incomplete information is a ground to refuse or close the account.
3. Your obligations
You keep your API credentials and dashboard access secret, and you tell us without delay if either is compromised. Operations made with your credentials are treated as made by you.
You do not use the platform for activities prohibited by the law applicable to you, by the rules of the card schemes, or by the payment providers involved in your payments.
You send us only the customer data required to process a payment, and you have a lawful basis to send it.
4. Payments, settlements and fees
Fees are agreed with you before your account is activated and are shown in the dashboard. They are withheld from the settlement amount unless agreed otherwise.
Funds received for your payments are settled to the requisites stated in your profile, on the schedule agreed with you. Amounts held against payouts in progress are shown separately from your available balance.
A payment may be declined by a payment provider or by us — for example on suspicion of fraud. We state the reason we received where we are allowed to disclose it.
5. Test environment
The sandbox imitates a payment provider so that you can build and test your integration. Nothing in it is real: no money moves, and its results say nothing about how a live payment will end.
6. Availability and liability
We keep the platform running with reasonable care, but we do not promise uninterrupted service: payment providers, banks and networks we depend on can fail.
We are not liable for your losses caused by your own integration, by data you sent us, or by decisions of payment providers and banks. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
7. Ending the relationship
You may close your account at any time once your outstanding settlements are complete. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, the law, or the rules of a payment provider — we tell you why, unless the law forbids it.
We may change these terms. Material changes are announced in the dashboard before they take effect, and continuing to use the platform means accepting them.
